Why More And More Young Women Are Choosing Dogs Over Motherhood

Truth be told (whether you like it or not…), some people just plainly prefer to have dogs more than to have children.

Yes, they've heard how wonderful and amazing having “real children” can be, but they argue that they have also seen and fear how the process of raising “real children” can be exhausting, stressful, and expensive.

There are young couples who adopts a dog just to see whether they are ready to have a “real family”. They feel that if they can take care of a dog, then maybe they are ready for “real children”.

While in the process of “testing” their capabilities as parents, more and more couples and even single adults are opting not to have “real children” and stay with their furry children.

Now, that's not necessarily a bad thing in our humble opinion, but it sure is a controversial topic for sure.

  1. I haven’t chosen a dog over motherhood, unfortunately me and my other half can’t have children and I think most women have a natural mothering instinct which comes out in them when you have a high dependency pet like a dog, I wouldn’t change my boxer boy for the world now though x

  2. Damned rights!! I love my fur baby Cleo…..I wouldn’t have kids in today’s times if someone paid me to. No thanks, I’d much rather have a fur baby / or fur babies!! 🙂

  3. Kids throw fits because parents allow it. Period. I have two kids (and two boxers) and I would discipline my kids on the spot if I saw any hint of a tantrum. Result: they don’t do it. Blame the parents, not the kids.

  4. I totally agree, and yes Boxers are awesome. My significant other are not choosing a dog over motherhood, however more so dog before motherhood. This way when we do have kids (whenever that would be) our children would grow up with the dog and learn responsibility and the bond with the animal.
