Have you ever noticed how dogs sometimes walk in circles before sleeping or going to the bathroom?
I always thought it had to do with them being very careful about where they mark their territory, but according to the following video from Discovery, there’s a lot more to those circle turns.
It turns out that it not only has to do with some hygiene and territorial instincts that dogs have when they're in the wild, but also has to do with the Earth's magnetic field…
…which is crazy, and Anthony Carboni from DNews is here to tell you all about it.
Check out the video on the next page to find out why dogs spin before they poop!

That’s right. They have scent glands in their feet so they are marking territory as the man said. They also have scent glands on their face so when u see them rubbing their face its not always itchy they are marking territory again.

As long as my little piggy doesn’t go in the house, he can spin as many times as he wants!
My question is, why does he kick and scrape the grass when he’s done?!

This has also something to do with marking the territory. They have glands at the back of their paws, which releases a scent, when they start scratching after a poo.

My lil buddy that passed away a few months ago ALWAYS pooped in a circle after the regular circle thing. I really mean every time he pooped, and it was almost always in 3 lil pieces, and in a complete circle. He would pivot on his front feet. I thought that maybe it was a Doxie thing as he was my first. BUTTTT my two 5 month old female Doxie pups don’t poop in a circle. Anybody else face similar?
