Ann Hoang wanted to do something for her dog-loving husband. The happy couple already owned one dog, so taking on the responsibility of another did not seem to be in the cards. Fortunately, fate had other plans.
Instead of bringing another dog home, the couple decided to foster a pooch in need. When Band for Animal posted a picture of a little Terrier and Schnauzer mix to their Facebook page, the couple found their new foster dog.

“At first, my husband was unsure of Toby because he was very timid and also this was our very first foster experience,” Hoang shared with The Dodo. “However, by the [first] evening, Toby had sat down next to my husband and he looked up at him with his puppy dog eyes.”
After only a week, two families showed interest in adopting Toby. At this point, Mr. Hoang and Toby grew very close to one another. Though he never asks for anything, Mrs. Hoang knew her hubby would be devastated without Toby in his life.

She contacted the rescue team, told them they would adopt Toby, but she wanted to surprise her spouse.
Mrs. Hoang handed a note to her hubby, which she said was a letter from a potential adopter coming for a visit. As he read through the note, the sweet man erupted in tears.

In reality, his wife wrote that the dog was now a permanent member of the family and officially adopted.
