Earlier this year, animal rescuer Tia from Tia’s Tail Tales received a disturbing video showing a small puppy trapped inside a dangerous junkyard. Someone nearby had spotted the helpless dog wandering through piles of scrap metal and garbage and urgently reached out for help.
As Tia watched the footage, her heart sank.
The tiny puppy could barely be seen weaving through the debris while searching for scraps of food. At one terrifying moment, a massive excavator rolled dangerously close to the puppy, nearly crushing the little dog beneath its tracks.

“The machine was moving over the piles of rubbish, and the puppy was right in its path,” Tia recalled in a video shared with The Dodo. “It was horrifying to watch.”
Knowing there wasn’t a second to waste, Tia and her partner rushed to the junkyard to rescue the puppy. But when they arrived, they discovered the situation was even worse than they expected.
Instead of finding one puppy, they found four.
The dogs were darting through the hazardous junkyard, hiding beneath heavy machinery and running through dangerous piles of debris.
“It’s an incredibly unsafe place for puppies,” Tia explained. “Honestly, it’s dangerous for anyone.”
After carefully chasing the frightened dogs around the property, Tia managed to safely catch three of the puppies and place them into a carrier. However, one puppy continued slipping away and hiding among the machinery.
Not wanting to delay medical care for the others, Tia brought the three rescued puppies to a veterinarian and promised herself she would return immediately for the last one.
When she came back to the junkyard later that day, conditions had become even more alarming. Workers had started burning piles of garbage, and thick smoke filled the air.

Thankfully, this time Tia was finally able to safely catch the remaining puppy, whom she later named Christina.
At the veterinary clinic, rescuers learned something surprising: Christina wasn’t actually related to the other puppies. Despite being slightly older and from a different litter, she had taken on the role of protector for the younger puppies — Honey, Pumpkin, and Fudge.
“She had basically become their guardian,” Tia said. “She stayed close to them and looked after them the whole time. It was incredibly sweet.”
After surviving for so long in such harsh conditions, all four puppies needed medical treatment. Christina was especially weak, suffering from dehydration, malnutrition, worms, and several other health issues.
Fortunately, with proper care, food, and rest, the puppies quickly began recovering.

Each puppy was eventually placed with loving foster families, where they learned what safety and comfort finally felt like. Before long, every one of them found a forever home.
For Tia, seeing the puppies go from surviving in a deadly junkyard to thriving with loving families made every difficult moment worthwhile.

“I’m just so happy knowing they’re safe now,” she said. “They finally get to live the lives they always deserved.”
