The Blair Pug Project: A Vet Student’s Hysterical Synopsis of Trimming a Pug’s Nails

Trimming nails on your Pug is not always a fun job. Some pugs are reluctant, even terrified of getting their nails trimmed.

Some even starts screaming, yelping, and moving around constantly. You fight tooth and nails (no pun intended) to get their nails cut… the ultimate challenge of grit and persistence.

Have you ever experienced the pleasure of trimming a pug's (or any reluctant dog's / animal's) nails?

Well, this 2nd year veterinary student, Roberta who's studying at the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University sure can relate!

Check out her hysterical synopsis of trimming a pug's nails on the next page:

  1. That’s extremely mild compared to my Charlie! It took 3 to hold him down while I tried to trim the nails. You would have thought we were killing him. If someone would have come to our door they might have called the cops! We ultimately only got one nail trimmed

  2. My pug/boxer mix requires 2 people to hold him down, he has diabetics so his blood pressure goes up which causes more bleeding if she gets a quick, & all the noises while he wags his tail, I think it’s more tramatizing for me than him

  3. I actually must be graced with a good little guy then, lol. Oliver takes one person to hold him and one to cut his nails, but he doesn’t cry or anything. Just sits like a little prince getting a manicure, haha.

  4. Our vet’s assistant at Nehalem Animal Healing Center says Frankie Girl is amazing. A couple times she got her nails trimmed for free because she’s SO good. They only charge $10 for the trim and now, should the friendly girl ever need to go to the vet, she enjoys stopping by. We go about once a month.

  5. Willie has never given me any problems except he will pull his paw away, I will baby talk real sweet and kiss his nose telling him mommy isn’t going to hurt you lots of kisses and he just lays there, he doesn’t like it but never fights me.
