Trimming nails on your Pug is not always a fun job. Some pugs are reluctant, even terrified of getting their nails trimmed.
Some even starts screaming, yelping, and moving around constantly. You fight tooth and nails (no pun intended) to get their nails cut… the ultimate challenge of grit and persistence.
Have you ever experienced the pleasure of trimming a pug's (or any reluctant dog's / animal's) nails?
Well, this 2nd year veterinary student, Roberta who's studying at the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University sure can relate!
Check out her hysterical synopsis of trimming a pug's nails on the next page:

I know this scenario too well, and yes it’s easier if there were two people working on the little drama queen. Thank goodness for groomers.

My Gizzy HATED having his nails clipped. It was always a struggle. He’d scream like I was trying to kill him and he even nipped me really good once.

We gave up on the nightmare of trying to cut or grind down our sweet pug’s nails – we could no longer deal with either her battle scars or ours!!! Now she goes to the vet every 3 weeks and after trying various ways of handling this procedure, they came up with one that usually works quite well. They lay her on table on her side and drape a light cloth over her face so she can’t see what happening. One person (or sometimes two people) holds her and gently rubs and talks to her while another one cuts her nails. She no longer yelps and cries — its quick and it works great for her and us!!!!

Pugs are hard to cut their nails or draw blood ! Hold them too hard around their neck watch the color of the tongue- if it turns blue , you are holding too tight !

We take our 11 year old to the Vet to get hers trimmed as well… it’s like trying to wrestle a 1,500 lb alligator in a death roll, trying to do it… we have up a long time ago!!! It’s seriously a huge undertaking… our 2 year old pug does ok with it… thankfully!

We have to have one of ours sedated to get her nails clipped. Groomer can’t do it, vet can’t do it without her being sedated, we can’t. I’ve even tried when she’s sleeping. It is impossible. Our other pug, he will let the groomer only and he’s an angel for them. For us, he’s next to impossible.

Pugs definitely HATE having their nails clipped. I start my puppies early with a dremel tool to slowly trim their nails. When they’re adults, they aren’t bothered by it at all.

It’s so true. I have my pug sedated to do his nails. It’s like taking a child that won’t behave to doctors.

One of mine doesn’t mind at all, the other screams so loud and struggles the whole time that I’m sure my neighbors think I torture and abuse my pugs. LOL

This has made me laugh so hard. Tried to do some nail clipping last night. What a disaster just had to give up, screaming like a pig and very naughty Charlie did not get a treat.
