The Blair Pug Project: A Vet Student’s Hysterical Synopsis of Trimming a Pug’s Nails

Trimming nails on your Pug is not always a fun job. Some pugs are reluctant, even terrified of getting their nails trimmed.

Some even starts screaming, yelping, and moving around constantly. You fight tooth and nails (no pun intended) to get their nails cut… the ultimate challenge of grit and persistence.

Have you ever experienced the pleasure of trimming a pug's (or any reluctant dog's / animal's) nails?

Well, this 2nd year veterinary student, Roberta who's studying at the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University sure can relate!

  1. Sad but true I get charged 30 Buck for the trims and end up tipping that amount, three pugs all in a row, if they would let me bring the girls a case of beer or two I would do that also

  2. It really isn’t funny, but watching him work himself into a lather is. My pug didn’t have a problem with nail cutting, but then, he was so laid back that the only thing we really knew he didn’t like was to be left alone. He had his way to punish us for that.

  3. Hmm. I have not a clue. My pug sings when gets his nails done. Oh I am wearing earplugs. Those high pitched notes hurt my ears. ( can make them bleed) . His brother an English Bull dog just shakes his head and snorts at him.

  4. No cause we keep his feet pushed up to his body while I am patting ( enough to draw attention away from what they are doing.)him on his head. If not he is singing and I carry ear plugs. You can’t just hold a pug like they are and not have it go crazy. Poor doggie.
