The Blair Pug Project: A Vet Student’s Hysterical Synopsis of Trimming a Pug’s Nails

Trimming nails on your Pug is not always a fun job. Some pugs are reluctant, even terrified of getting their nails trimmed.

Some even starts screaming, yelping, and moving around constantly. You fight tooth and nails (no pun intended) to get their nails cut… the ultimate challenge of grit and persistence.

Have you ever experienced the pleasure of trimming a pug's (or any reluctant dog's / animal's) nails?

Well, this 2nd year veterinary student, Roberta who's studying at the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University sure can relate!

Check out her hysterical synopsis of trimming a pug's nails on the next page:

  1. It has to be a breed thing – I take my Pug to the vet so the groomer on site does her nails. She always has to have a helper hold my Girl so the groomer can grind her nails. They say she is getting better – but she always gives the holder a work out. Pugs may be small – but they sure get strength when it comes time for the nails to be trimmed.

  2. My pug hates having her nails clipped. Once my husband clipped while I held her wrapped in a blanket. She pooped and it shot out like a missile and flew over my shoulder. That was the last time we ever clipped her nails!

  3. The vet techs at my vet clinic put squeeze cheese on the wall next to the exam table. Both of my pugs are so interested in the cheese that they don’t care if they get their nails done. Before the girls came up with that idea, it was hell for them!

  4. Oh yes…the pug nail trim–3 words that should never be used in the same sentence. But thanks to a certain awesome vet, ive mastered the pug nail trim restraint. Becky Woodman Lockwood Annie Dalrymple you know who im talking about. 🙂
