My guys sleep in their own rooms on their own bed unless it is their turn to sleep with me but I can relate my boy can be quite stubborn at times with doing what is requested of him as a puppy we went through this at bedtime when he needed to go to his room but now he is grown we rarely have any issues like this

I never used a crate I don’t like them I know some believe it’s the dogs safe place but my pups have their own rooms so that’s their safe place but even so you must teach them & children to respect each other
