Most of us see stray dogs in our neighborhoods. They can be seen digging in a bin for food or simply watching passersby expectantly, in hopes of being fed. Yet, our busy lives have made some of us oblivious to the sufferings of these poor souls.

The volunteers at World Animal Awareness Society (WA2S) feel deeply for the predicament of these hungry, homeless dogs. With the hope of creating awareness, they decided to follow a homeless dog through the streets to get an idea of the daily challenges they face.
Little did they know that this would turn out to be way more heartbreaking than they had expected. In this video for WA2S’s “American Strays Project”, we can see this abandoned dog and his friends occupying abandoned houses in Detroit. Soon, he is seen wandering with an empty food bowl in his mouth.

Hungry and thirsty, the dog is seen carrying the bowl everywhere. The pangs of hunger and the uncertainty of his next meal paint an uneasy desperation on his face. The volunteers followed him to five such doors before filling his food bowl themselves. We know that this clip is difficult to watch but it needs to be shared for the sake of these poor animals.
