Woman feeds a stray dog. Then dog returns to woman each day with a new gift

As kids, we’re told it’s polite to say thank you to someone who feeds us or gives us a present. It turns out, it’s not just humans who are taught manners. A polite stray pup in Thailand uses little gifts to show the woman who feeds him how much he appreciates her.

For years, Orawan Kaewla-iat has been feeding the stray dogs near her home. She’ll put out bowls of rice for any hungry dog to snack on. One day, a dog she named Tua Plu and his mom began showing up at her house. To Orawan’s surprise, before Tua Plu began eating, he always made sure to give her a present.

“When he’s hungry, he will offer something to get fed,” Orawan wrote on Facebook, as translated by Coconuts Bangkok. “Every day he shows up with an object in his mouth — usually a leaf and sometimes a piece of paper. Before you feed other dogs, you have to feed Tua Plu and his mom.”

Orawan shared a video of Tua Plu’s thoughtful gesture on Facebook. In the video, Tua Plu carries a leaf down some stairs and places it in front of his bowl of rice. Once he’s sure Orawan has seen the gift, he tucks into the food.

The video of Tua Plu’s giving his sweet gift went viral in Thailand, and then it spread abroad. Many people have asked Orawan about adopting the generous pup and his mom. Orawan is thrilled that Tua Plu might soon have a wonderful home where he can shower his owner in gifts.

  1. This is one of those awe-inspiring stories. I love dogs. All of them. There are no bad ones out there. For this little fella to feel he needs to gift the lady that feeds him, and others…I think the whole thing is just precious. I love this little fella and have never met him. I think he loves the lady also. He has a bond with her. I wish she could just take him in and make him hers, but she probably does all she can for now. God bless this pup, the lady, and all the good people that help animals.

  2. How sweet is that I would do the same. As a matter of fact I’ve been there have feed many strays and tooked them in gave them a bath over the years can’t stand stinky nothing and called the animal ward and so far over the years the dogs was reunited with their owners

  3. It’s only who brings them up that’s bad if they turn into bad dogs, I’ve had some trying to attack my dog and some weren’t on a leash and one woman (the first dog that attacked him) didn’t even put him back on his leash, just walked away. Hope she didn’t bump into any other dog owners. Most dogs are brilliant but it is how they are brought up

  4. Agreed
100%. I was a vet tech for over 10 yrs. Loved it. Hated seeing the dogs that were used for cage fighting or bait. Those were “bad” dogs, but it was because of human hands.
I’m sorry about your fur baby. It’s not fair.
