Dog Having Hard Time Making Friends Meets One Who Accepts Her The Way She Is

Rachel was having a hard time making friends because she was born different. It wasn’t through any fault of her own. The puppy was born with deformities to her front legs.

When she arrived at The Pawerful Rescue the other dogs sensed her differences and ignored her. It’s a common thing for dogs without disabilities to take longer to warm up to dogs with disabilities, says Steph, one of the founders of the rescue.

“Our job is to make sure they grow up to be confident adult dogs,” she explains. They got help from another very special dog named Ihop, one of their special needs rescue dogs.

Ihop and Rachel became instant best friends. Ihop helped Rachel so much. Not long after, Rachel then got to make friends with the other dogs.

And all that care and time was worth it. The Pawerful Rescue shared a wonderful update on Rachel – she has found a home! They wrote, “Her mom and dad are two extremely loving, dedicated and patient individuals. Her dad even works in the orthopaedic department of a children’s hospital where Rachel may someday visit.”

“She has three new siblings one of them being a tripod. We are pretty confident right away that she found her forever home,” they continued. “It can be tricky however integrating a special-needs pup. But we always do our best to properly socialize and build up the confidence of all the special needs pups we take in and it paid off for Rachel. All three pups within a few days had welcomed her with open arms. Now her next and best chapter can sign.

As for Rachel’s legs, The Pawerful Rescue said that once she has fully grown the rescue’s orthopaedic surgeon will take a look at her to see what might be the best option for her whether that be reconstructive surgery or a boot/brace.
