   Thousands of children are attacked each year by stray dogs and cats. Why would some adult place a child in this situation and be far away from the child?

    A six year old is not “skilled” at anything, especially fighting off a large dog. When I was a social worker I saw many children this age injured by dogs who had lived in the home for years. An “adopted dog” should never be trusted this close to a young child unless the adult is within arms length. PERIOD!
