A small pup was discovered alone in a park. She was certainly far too little to be without her mommy and it was obvious that she wouldn’t pull through for much longer by herself. That’s exactly the moment when someone did what they needed to do and got her home.
The small pup was discovered alone in a park, hardly surviving. The Good Samaritan who discovered her took her home and cared for her there.
However, Lily’s situation steadily worsened just a couple of days after the good Samaritan started trying to take care of her. Once it became clear just how serious her health issues were, Lily was taken to the San Jose Animal Care Center.
Weighing merely half a pound, things were not looking great for Lily. The staff weren’t certain that she’d pull through the next 30 minutes, let alone make a complete recovery.
Below you will see one of several vets giving Lily some much-needed nourishment through a syringe.
After just a few hours, Lily appeared to be doing much better! They’d also come across a vet nurse who could foster her, so she had a place to go when she was healthy enough to travel.
And only two weeks after her battle with death, Lily is getting healthier, not to mention gaining an appetite for play. Incredible!
Although this story has a happy ending, Dr. Ostermann mentioned that it is advisable to ensure that a puppy’s mom isn’t around and won’t be returning. Only when you’re certain of this should you take the puppy for help.
“Sometimes good intentions can be more harmful than you would expect. Many people who find kittens or puppies assume that they are orphaned instead of waiting to see whether their mother comes back to them. The babies will do best in their mother’s care, so removing them from their environment before you are sure their mother is not coming back could hinder their chances of surviving. If you are convinced that mother is not returning to her babies and you are not well-versed in caring for orphaned kittens or puppies, please take them to your local veterinarian immediately for guidance.”
Cheers to Lily living a good and healthier life filled with lots of love!
