There’s nothing like some unlikely animal friends. And as for this pair, they’re totally inseparable.
So when Ruuxa the cheetah needed to have surgery on his front legs, Raina the Rhodesian Ridgeback pup was right there by his side.
Ruuxa’s legs were growing in abnormally which would cause pain later in life, so the operation was critical.

There in the surgery room at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park, Raina waited nervously and patiently for the outcome. And when Ruuxa finally came to, the good dog was right there ready to greet him! 🙂

“Raina appeared very concerned about Ruuxa when she saw he was sleeping and she couldn’t wake him,” Susie Ekard, an animal training manager at Safari Park, said. “She licked him and nuzzled him, and when he awoke, she lay with him and seemed very content to know her cheetah was okay.”
