When you think of a dog, what color is he? Probably something like brown, black, white or a combination of those colors. In any case, we all know what dogs look like, and the only time that image changes is when it comes to children’s story books or cartoons (yes, we’re talking about you, Clifford)!
But what would you do if you found a dog in real life that was, say… pink?
That’s what rescue workers were faced with when what looked like a pink dog had been anonymously placed in their nighttime drop-off area along with a friend.
This is 10-month-old Asia (left) and her 2-year-old friend, Artie. They were anonymously dropped off at Animal Friends of The Valleys rescue shelter in Wildomar, California one night without any information about them. But just looking at Asia’s pink skin and Artie’s sad eyes will tell you that these boxers were in need of some serious help.

Their condition was called demodex mange. Though it’s a common infestation of the skin caused by mites, it can be treated pretty easily. Unfortunately, these two were badly neglected. Asia also suffered from a heart murmur while Artie needed eye surgery.

After receiving medicated shampoo and pain management, the two pups really opened up. They ended up scoring a spot at Last Chance At Life, which were determined to find them each a loving home.
Lisa Hamilton, the founder of Last Chance At Life, said that a family had already shown interest in adopting one of them. “I assure you they were both unsettled with being dumped but they know very quickly that the staff at Animal Friends of the Valleys and the volunteers here at LCAL are their ‘friends’ and here to help them.”

Hopefully these two cuties will find forever homes very soon. Good thing they are getting treated for their condition, and will at least be free of pain in the future. They’ve both got a whole lot of happiness ahead!

They are absolutely beautiful. Praying they find their forever home together. We have two Boxers, brothers, they are a absolute joy. If anyone is around a Boxer and don’t fall in love, there might be something wrong with the humans.
