Puppy With Special Needs Doesn’t Let Anything Stop Him From Enjoying Life

German Shepherd Scout was rescued by his family when he was just 10 weeks old. He wasn’t eating properly until he was diagnosed with congenital megaesophagus. He finally started to put some weight when his family began a special feeding routine for him.

Puppies with this condition need to sit upright when they eat so that food can get down their esophagus. Scout got a baby walker temporarily until an adjustable bailey chair can be built. But he quickly learned what to do!

“As you can see he definitely associates his feedings with the walker,” said his dad, Kevin Templeman. “He eats from an ice cube tray because he scarfs his food down and it helps him slow down to eat. After each feeding he sits in his chair for about 30 minutes to let gravity help the food go down to his stomach.”
