Rescuer Goes Into Abandoned Basement, Then Moves Dresser And Finds Scared 10-Week-Old Puppies

An abandoned home in Michigan was set to be completely torn down in October of 2015 when demolition came to a halt after workers heard puppies crying inside the house.

“They said when they were about to [demolish the house], they heard puppies inside the house,” said Pam Dybowski, a rescue driver at the Michigan Humane Society. “So, they called us and we went out.”

When the rescuers went inside the house, they found a litter of 10-week-old puppies in the basement, hiding under a dresser and in a closet.

“We did find some puppies underneath the dresser to where we were able to put them in our cages,” Pam said. “After that, we cleared the rest of the basement to where we found more puppies kind of in a corner area.”

They continued searching every inch of the house to make sure they had rescued every single puppy in the house. “After we cleared the house to make sure no more animals were in there, we gave the demolition crew the OK to demolish the house,” Pam said in the Michigan Humane Society’s video.

Each shy puppy received a checkup and shots. They were verified to be shepherd mixes.

Even better? Every single one of the newly rescued puppies were adopted by loving families.
