The impending reality for many homeless dogs, old and young and in between, is heartbreaking.
While I myself am an advocate of euthanasia for pain and suffering, it is hard to imagine that euthanasia is what many of these dogs in shelters have to look forward to.
Not their impending death but a release from a life on a cold and dirty concrete floor. The shelters are loud and scary. The constant barking and crying are enough to drive anyone insane.

Thankfully rescue groups and other no-kill shelters are on call to help. They have volunteers who scour the internet for dogs they can save.
They make constant phone calls to inquire about potential lives they can change. And even some kill shelter volunteers reach out to them.

Texas, one state that has an abundance of kill-shelters, are often overrun and overcrowded. They euthanize the most unhealthy, unadoptable first.
The dogs in this story were on the top of the list because they were so severely neglected. But a savior spotted their photos online and came to set them free from that impending needle filled with poison.

Stacey Silverstein, co-founder of Rescue Dogs Rock NYC, saw a video of the two puppies clinging to one another, while a third helpless dog lay nearby.
They were owner surrenders but how they got in such a state is what is heartbreaking and mind-boggling. Abuse isn’t a strong enough word.

Silverstein wrote on Rescue Dogs Rock NYC Facebook page:
“Where is the respect? Where is the humanity? They came into this kill shelter in this condition, thrown onto the hard concrete disease infected floor in obviously critical and weak condition.”
“We are so disgusted every day to be confronted with this harsh reality,” Stacey continued. “Once again we will be their protectors and saviors and get them the help they so desperately need.”

The dogs, (all three!), are now safe and sound and receiving proper care. The larger of the three dogs was named Mulani and the other two dogs are now known as Po and Mishi.
