A pool, perhaps a kiddie pool or better yet a wading pool, is a great place to get your dog used to water. You can introduce him or her slowly in shallow water without fear of waves or a tide.
Once he or she finds out how much fun water is, you can teach him or her to swim. And since you're in control of filling and cleaning the pool, there is less chance of your dog getting an infection from bad water.
It's also a good place to help your pooch cool off after a hike or a long walk so he or she doesn't get heat stroke.
Here's an adorable pug having a great time in his pool. He seems to love the water, and doesn't show any signs of fear of water.
But, when the human introduces a few sharks (mechanical ones of course…), trouble ensues. He's not sure how to react initially, but after a few moments he decides to go after them!
Watch the adorable pug's priceless reaction to the sharks while having a blast in the pool on the next page:
