Pint-Sized Chihuahua Walks For The First Time With Help From Tiny Wheelchair

Lundy the Chihuahua puppy was born with swimmers syndrome, which means he is unable to use his back legs.

His breeders in South Carolina sent him to The Mia Foundation to get help, since they are experienced in dealing with special needs puppies.

When Lundy arrived, he was only six ounces, and small enough to fit in a shirt pocket.

While at The Mia Foundation, a rescue organization in Rochester, New York, that rehabilitates animals with birth defects and deformities, Lundy met a pigeon named Herman.

Herman was found more than a year ago in a car dealership parking lot, where he sat on the pavement and didn’t move for three days.

Rescuers then took him in and realized it was because he couldn’t fly. He had suffered neurological damage, which has left him unable to fly.

From the moment they met, Lundy and Herman grew inseparable. Their bond proves that love and friendship truly knows no species.

But despite having a best friend, Lundy was still unable to walk.

When Walkin’ Pets, a pet mobility company in New Hampshire, heard Lundy’s story, they knew they had to help. They donated a mini-wheelchair that’s small enough to fit two-pound Lundy.

Jennifer Pratt from Walkin’ Pets was happy to help Lundy be able to walk. She wants people to know that a mobility issue for a pet doesn’t need to be an end of life decision.

Since Lundy is now mobile and able to walk for the first time, he’s now looking for a forever home.
