Man Jumps Into Canal To Save Fox Cub From Drowning

A drowning fox cub was saved by a man who jumped into the Grand Union Canal in Market Harborough to rescue it.

Russ Bellamy from Desborough leapt into action while walking his dog with wife Sharon on Saturday afternoon.

He spotted the animal in difficulty in the stretch of water near Union Wharf and quickly knew he had to do something.

The cub, which was soaking wet, was taken to Leicestershire Wildlife Hospital in Kibworth, where volunteers are currently caring for it, in the hope it will make a full recovery.
