Little girl returns dog to the pound, then shelter sees a handwritten note on his collar

Animals show up at shelters everyday for many reasons most of them will be adopted and spend the rest of their lives with their forever family.

Even families that mean well for their new family member can not always keep their pet.

Meet Rhino Lightning he was adopted from his shelter by a family with four kids. While it seemed like a match made in heaven at the beginning the family had to bring him back to the shelter after several months.

Unfortunately, the boxer brindle mix was rambunctious and was unable to play with the kids without becoming too rough. The parents worried this would lead to a serious injury to one of the children.

The decision to bring Rhino Lightning back to the shelter was not one they made quickly or took lightly. The family’s youngest daughter took it especially hard,  so when they took Rhino Lightning back, she gave the shelter a little notebook that she had written messages about Rhino in.

She let the shelter know that she already missed Rhino very much and that she wished that there was a way for her to let him know how pretty of a puppy he was.

She boasts of his intelligence and even provides the new family with specific instructions on how to give him treats…or how not to!

Best of all, she even asks that his new family keep the name Rhino Lightning when they adopt him.

This is such an adorable story, I couldn’t help but share it with you. Share it with your friends and family members.
