Kristina Hollie and her coworker were waiting to catch the bus in Cambridge, Massachusetts when they stumbled across an adorable sight — a dog running some errands with his mom.
The pooch’s mom was preparing to go into the post office but unfortunately, she couldn’t take the pup inside with her.
So she did what any dog-mom would do and carefully tied him up to the tree outside, but what happened next warmed the hearts of everyone watching.
Without a second thought, she whipped off her own coat and draped it over the dog. She then zipped the coat up and made sure he was safely and comfortably wrapped up in the warm jacket.
“It was very cold and windy out,” Hollie told The Dodo. “I noticed that he was visibly shaking. She obviously noticed too because she immediately took off her jacket and covered the dog as he sat. Maybe she thought he would kick it off, so she bent down and zipped it up around him!”
The good boy sat still as his mom wrapped her jacket around him, he was so proud and excited to wear something so cozy.
It was evidently clear that this woman would have taken her furry friend inside with her if she could, but as she wasn’t permitted, she wanted to make sure he was as comfortable as possible for the time being.
They shared a sweet head bump, and his mom began to walk into the post office.
“As soon as she got up and walked past me, I told her that what she did was incredibly sweet and thoughtful,” Hollie said. “She just replied, ‘Thank you! I don’t want him to be cold!’”, Hollie told The Dodo.
The adorable pup was the center of attention while he sat patiently on the sidewalk, people just couldn’t resist stopping to snap a picture or make a comment.
“I saw two or three other people walk past him and comment that he looked very cute and very warm,” Hollie told The Dodo.
Eventually, Hollie’s bus arrived at her stop and it was time to say goodbye to the dog who so proudly wore his mom’s coat.
It’s adorable to see people who truly care for their pets and are ready to make personal sacrifices for the sake of their furbabies’ comfort and wellbeing.
