He adopted a senior dog from the shelter, but one day it stops on their walk and looks up at him

If you’re looking for a heartwarming video, then look no further than this one containing the hit song by Singer-songwriter Yusuf/Cat Stevens ”I Love My Dog,”.

The singer and songwriter Yusuf/Cat Stevens donated his very first hit song, ”I Love My Dog”, which recently marked its 50th anniversary for PETA to use in a brand new video in celebration of National “Adopt a Shelter Pet” Day on April 30.

However, please remember that every day should be “Adopt a Shelter Pet” day and to know that there are millions of beautiful animals looking for a forever home.

PLEASE, remember to adopt, and not shop. Nearly half of the 6 million dogs and cats that end up in shelters every year have to be euthanized because there aren’t enough homes for them.

  1. What is with this adopt don’t shop movement? It makes people that want to know what kind of dog they are getting into look bad. I am all for shutting down all ‘breeders’ that don’t run full heath and temperment testing on their dog. Why is it that people can’t seem to understand that getting a well bred dog from a breeder is a healthier option for both the dog and your family? If I bring home a dog from a shelter and it is fi e except the one time that my kid carries something that scares the dog due to previous issues and that dog bites my kid I will no longer trust that dog around my kid. I am not saying that you all can’t adopt a dog, they need homes, but why put in the don’t shop part? Personally I will probably never buy a puppy/dog that is not from a quality breeder, does this make me a bad person? no! We need to cut down on the irresponsible breeders, not the ones that are trying to better the breed by breeding for better gentics or a getter work ethic ect. Good breeders are a great choice, but people want to say ‘oh well I found this purebred german shepherd puppy on craigslist for $300-$500’ why would I spend the extra $1,000-$2,000 for this other one?” Because you will have little to no health problems and you know the puppies have been raised in a certain way. Yes, if you want a dog and you are ok with getting a dog that has a million issues and have the money to pay for real training for this dog by all means go ahead, but I will not risk in with a new addition to my family.

  2. This rocked me to the core! It’s not easy to let your furbabies go, but it’s even harder to go through life without having them! The love they give back is ten-fold the heartache you experience when they are gone!

  3. I have no respect for PETA…that being said, this video is right on target..my pets (cats and dogs) over the years have helped me with PTSD issues much more than any person has…

  4. Well that was sad to watch. Couldn’t it have just ended with him being happy with his buddy. I don’t need to be reminded of the heartbreak that comes with having a dog though I know it is reality it makes me so sad.
