His Dog Was On The Beach When He Picked This Up. Days Later He’s Dead. Now Hear His Owner’s Warning

Going to the beach with your dog can be a fun, family activity.

If you decide to go for a day out though, look out for white foamy substances that are washing ashore. They may seem harmless, but they are actually quite dangerous.

A woman was walking her dog in England on the rocky shores when she noticed what looked like a foamy substance in the sand.

She went to go take a closer look.  She then thought it was a jellyfish, but that proved false as well.  In fact, it was a a solidified ball of fat and trash.

These “fatbergs” aren’t just a localized problem either; they have been found washing ashore all over the place!

These conglomerates can stay in the ocean waters for years before they wash ashore.

They may seem fun to play with, but do not touch them!  Even more importantly, do not let your dog touch them.  The fat deposits are filled with smells that attract canines, but they are jam packed with harmful bacteria that can kill your pooch with one lick.

Thankfully, beaches are trying to warn visitors of the danger.

The deposits are harmful to humans as well, so avoiding direct contact with them is a must.

Director Mark Abraham has commented on the globs saying, “As the palm oil is so gelatinous it can get lodged in the esophagus and require emergency surgery. If you think your dog has swallowed something it shouldn’t, contact your vet immediately.”

This stuff can even get stuck in sewer systems!  This is why draining grease down the sink is a bad idea.

Make sure to recycle anything you can, and be conscious about what you throw down the sink.
