Remember The Vet Who Sat Inside A Kennel So A Dog Would Eat? See Them One Year Later!

Dr. Andy Mathis became media famous one year ago when he did something pretty amazing. A sweet but timid homeless Pit Bull, named Graycie, was brought into his clinic. She was refusing to come out from the corner of her cage, and she had not eaten a bite of food.

So, Dr. Mathis went inside her cage with his food and ate next to her until she felt comfortable enough to eat. And… it worked!

The video went viral for good reason! We often see rescuers and their sympathy but we don’t often see what happens next. We also don’t have the chance to honor all the veterinarians and their hard work that so many do on a volunteer basis.

Being in a strange place with strange people can be so overwhelming but Dr. Mathis made it his mission to help Graycie. Their bond was one that the media loved, for sure, but it was also completely genuine. Dr. Mathis adopted Graycie and they haven’t been apart since!

Now, the heroic doctor and his sidekick celebrate their one year anniversary in a very special way! And it’s totally “awwww” worthy!

Check out the video on the next page to see their sweet one year anniversary celebration!

  1. It is very sad that people would rather buy a pet from a backyard breeder who does no vet work on there dogs then to go and adopt one that has been vetted fixed and you can meet them and see what you are getting first hand so many pets die needlessly because of it

  2. This story of this wonderful human being, Dr. Mathis, has to receive the award for showing his love of animals in a way you could hardly believe what you were watching. The only owner had to be Dr. Mathis since the two bonded for life. The Lord knew he had to make you a vet to take care of the abused animals. Bless you in your future and wish the most wonderful things to come your way. She loves you I guess you know as well as all your fans.

  3. It’s obvious he adopted her! Look at that happy pooch! One can tell she’s getting everything she wants from him, always! That’s why she has no patience! She just now she can get everything and she don’t have to beg for it!

  4. My first rescue was a Dobet that had been abandoned at a veterinary clinic; staff figured the elderly owner had either died or been suddenly taken ill; he had been there several times before. He was skin and bones; wouldn’t eat. I worked at a veterinary pharmaceutical/biologics company. When I had to go out of town for a meeting, I left the dog in a barn at work. The receptionist went back to visit him; found he wasn’t eating; fed him her lunch every day till I got back.
