Man Protects Sweet Stray Dogs After Neighbors Threaten To Stab Them With Knives

Hope For Paws received a call from a man regarding two dogs who had been homeless for two years in Los Angeles, California.

For the past few months, this kind-hearted man has been feeding them, but is unable to keep them, since he already has a small dog who doesn’t get along with other dogs.

The man was concerned with their safety after his neighbor told him he wants to get the female dog and sell her puppies. Other neighbors had been throwing things at them and chasing them with knives.

While the man was sad to see them go, he knew they needed to get off the streets.

The female dog was extremely friendly and came right up to rescuers. The male dog was very timid and reluctant, but allowed rescuers to get closer to him after they offered him some food.

The man began to cry because he felt like he was betraying them. He had spent two months gaining the male dog’s trust, and now strangers were taking him away.

But rescuers tried to reassure the man that he did the right thing by calling them, and that the dog would thank him later.

Rescuers named the bonded pair Irene and George, and brought them to the vet to be examined. It turns out that George had bone cancer, and needed emergency surgery to amputate his leg.

This surgery saved his life, and if it wasn’t for the kind man who called Hope For Paws, George wouldn’t have survived much longer.

George’s surgery was a success and he has already learned to walk on three legs. He and Irene will now enter rehab and training and are currently being fostered with Guardian Angel Pet Rescue.

The two dogs are inseparable, and Irene is like an emotional support dog to George, who is still much more shy than she is. They are a bonded pair and must be adopted together.
