Police dogs, often referred to in North America as “K-9″s (which is a homophone of canine), are dogs that are specifically trained to assist police and other law-enforcement personnel in their work…
…such as searching for drugs and explosives, searching for lost people, looking for crime scene evidence, and protecting their handlers.
The most commonly used breed is the German Shepherd. But don’t underestimate our Boxer Friends!
This A-M-A-Z-I-N-G (and I repeat, AMAZING!!) German Boxer, has made over 500 arrests in less than 4 years as a police dog!!!!!!! MUCH more than most human police in their whole careers.
Watch the video on the next page and be amazed by this Extreme Police! K9 style!

I think a Boxer is a much better and more intimidating breed for police work than a German Shepherd. Always have.

If I saw that looking at me, you would not have to tell me to freeze twice. I’d probably be passed out on the ground. Good dog, good dog.

I’ve had three American Boxers as an adult but grew up with a German Boxer. My family had a male offspring of the male my dad brought back from Germany in the forties. The sire hit 140 to 145 lbs. and the pup we had hit about 135 lbs. In my experience, the major difference is size. My largest American Boxer hit about 90 lbs. and my current baby is 85 lbs. They are a fine, loyal, loving and funny family friend and protector. My favorite breed by far!

All of those dogs are WAY over the breed standard. American females should be around 55-65, males 65-75. The German lines can run about 10-15 lbs heavier. No boxer should be over 100 lbs no matter where it came from.

Sarah Osborne – you have to realize we had the German male in the early fifties and breed sizes have decreased since then. I guarantee the American Boxers I’ve had have been very healthy and strong. Their weights have not been exaggerated!

My girl’s name is Etta. She seems to have dual personalities. When I am home she is calm and laid back but when I leave my wife says she changes and is the protector. She patrols and watches over her pack.!
