Unfortunately, bad things happen all the time. That is why, as dog lovers, we are so grateful for organizations like Animal Aid Unlimited. They work tirelessly every single day to save animals that would have no chance of surviving on their own.
A call came in about a dog that was stuck in a well. She was swimming for hours and her strength was drained. She clung to the side to take a break and breathe. She was so tired. Her situation was dire. A rescue had to happen immediately or she would not survive!
As she saw her potential rescuers approach, her eyes almost “spoke,” asking for help, pleading to be rescued from this horrible situation. The desperation is heartbreaking!
The well was deep and there was no way down except to be lowered by ropes. The rescuers collected what they needed and chose a volunteer to go down. The man was lowered in. Watching, my heart was in my throat. I kept thinking “HURRY UP!”
The man made it down, with a large net. He placed the tired dog inside so she could be pulled up to safety. The other rescuers kept pulling her up until she was in their arms. She was so tired but you could see a sense of relief in her eyes… like “Wow, they did it! I am safe!”
A desperate drowning dog that had mere minutes to live is now on her way to a safe place to receive medical care, a good meal, and some much-needed sleep. Next stop: A new home where she will be kept safe forever!
