He Laid In Agony Among Trash, Wiggling His Tail So Workers Would Hear Him

Baltimore City Animal Control responded to a call regarding a dog that had been found by the city’s trash incinerator facility.

The dog was discovered on the main dumping floor after a long fall out of a 30-foot roll-off dumpster.

He wasn’t initially noticed among the massive piles of trash until the front-end loader operator saw movement and quickly stopped his machine. He then jumped into the debris to rescue him.

The pooch, now named Donut, was alive but unable to get up. The operator pulled trash-covered Donut out to safety and placed him on towels.

Donut had cuts and puncture wounds, and what appeared to be severe injuries to his front legs.

Animal Control rushed him to BARCS Animal Shelter, where he was examined by a team of vets.

Donut may have looked like he was too far gone, but he had a lot of fight left in him and proved that to the vet staff by wagging his tail and trying to move his face closer to theirs for comfort.

Despite everything Donut has been through, all he wants to do is give kisses.

He is now at a patterning Franky Fund clinic ER, where he is being treated for his injuries. Donut is unable to walk on his own and may require surgery for one or both of his legs.

“We don’t know what events led up to Donut being found on the incinerator plant floor yesterday,” BARCS wrote in a Facebook post. “Could someone have purposely have thrown him away in those dumpsters? Or did he wander or fall in there on his own? Whatever the circumstance, sweet Donut is now safe—and very lucky to be alive.”
