It’s official. We’ve finally got some hard, empirical data to confirm what we’ve known all along – dogs are better than people! This nationwide survey of hundreds of pet owners uncovered some pretty hilarious and relatable facts and we thought it was only right to share them with you.

Over 1/4 of pet parents believe that their pets are more accepted within their families than their partners… we admit it’d be stiff competition with a face like that.

61% of pet parents would end a relationship for their pet and more than half of the participants would trust their dog’s judgment before their mother’s.

Over 1/4 of participants have brought their dogs on a date and 85% of pet parents are more likely to “swipe right” on a photo that included a dog. We see a strong correlation here, take note.

Over 1/4 of pet parents have planned a special date for themselves and their pet because isn’t every day a good day to celebrate the ones you love most?

95% of dog owners would rather spend the night at home cuddling with their dog than on a blind date – because almost anything else is more enjoyable than small talk with a total stranger.

56% of pet parents prefer to share the bed with their pet AND their partners, rather than just their partners.

Almost 70% of participants admitted that they would sacrifice alone time with their significant others for their pets. Netflix or dog beach? Seems like a no-brainer.

45% of pet parents spend more money on their pet than their partner every month. This seems fair to us?

And finally, 87% of pet parents would get their pet a Valentine’s Day gift.

So what does this all show? Maybe that we’re all a little crazy? I’d accept that. But at the end of the day, I think what it shows most prominently is that our collective obsessions with our pets exist for a good reason. The connections we develop with our pets are unlike any other. They are fiercely loyal and relentless in their displays of affection. They give us so much, and it only seems right to do what we can to give it back.

Once you make the fateful decision to get a fur baby of your own – your life will certainly change dramatically, but I promise it will always be for the better.

    Quite often they are. They sense moods and respond appropriately. Don’t tell you to “stop sulking” when you’re clearly just very sad. They’re non-judgemental, and they’re honest.

    Absolutely true I don’t know what I would do without my 4 boxers they keep me sane in this bonkers world even though they are crazy they always put a smile on my face and always show their love for me

    I’ve been saying this for years but he humans keep using words like “misanthropic” and “not a people person ” hard to miss what you don’t enjoy. (handful of friends who are family by deeds aside)
