Two women were strolling across the rivers of Messina in Southern Italy, when the muffled whimpers of an animal caught their attention. The women investigated to find a dog sealed in a garbage bag, dumped among the decaying carcasses of other animals.

The women ripped open the bag and were horrified to see the abandoned dog bound in electrical wires while the pests were eating away at his raw flesh. The dog was also paralyzed due to physical trauma to his hind legs. He thirstily drank the water they gave to him.
Linda Li, an animal rescue volunteer, arrived and took the dog in for medical assistance. She named the dog Olivierio. The veterinarians found Oliviero to be dehydrated, hungry and too weak to rise. It was a miracle that he was alive that long.

Oliviero was cleaned up of all the ticks and fly larvae. Then, a kind woman volunteered to foster him while he gained back his strength during his recovery. However, Oliviero won over the woman with his love, and she decided to adopt him!

Today, Oliviero is in a happy place in his forever home. He is comfortable and loved, and finally living the life he deserves. His transformation is not just of body, but of heart, mind and soul!
