The Humane Society of the United States rescued Tilly from a dogfighting operation in Gaston County, North Carolina.
Animal Rescue and Response team member, Morgan Rivera, recounts the moment that Tilly was freed from the heavy chain that weighed her down, and the start of her new life in her forever home.

The dogs on this property were found covered in fleas and had visible scarring, consistent with injuries typically seen in dogfighting cases.
They were found living outside on heavy, weighted chains and did not have access to adequate shelter — only blue barrels and dilapidated wooden shacks.
Despite the poor conditions the dogs were found suffering in, the Animal Rescue and Response team noted that they wagged their tails and were eager for attention.
