There is nothing stronger than a mother’s love and devotion.
In the human world, we meet countless women who struggle to care for themselves, yet they do all they can to make sure their children are okay.
This protection and devotion carry over to the animal world as well.

In this story, a mother dog and her companion were once pets. We know this because they have collars on. Collars that are so deeply embedded in their necks, that it’s heartbreaking.

They are now living on the streets. At first, we aren’t sure if they are runaways or if they were deliberately abandoned. We later find out that their condition, from the veterinarian, was caused by a monster.
The dogs are covered in wounds. The rescuers that hear about the dogs know they have to act fast. They need urgent medical care.
The locals that reached out to the rescue group tell them where to look and hopefully trap the dogs. The two dogs can be seen rummaging through local businesses’ garbage to find food to eat. What a sad sight 🙁

When the rescuers see the female dog, it is obvious she had just given birth. But where were the puppies?
The hunt is on! The rescuers make their way to a grave site nearby.

They find a hole in the ground near the tombstones. Tucked deep inside is a litter of tiny pups.

Look at how Mama tucked the babies into the little cave! She did all she could so that her babies would be safe.

It is quite the ordeal but finally, the rescue group is able to corner the adult dogs using a humane setup. Then one of the rescuers crawls into the hole to carefully remove the tiny pups.

The rescuers bring the dog family to the medical center.
The dog’s “owner” had purposely left the collars on the adult dogs. The collars were too small causing painful embedding AND their owner chained them up using wire.
There are also cuts and gashes on their bodies. These innocent dogs have only known pain. For what reason, we aren’t sure.
People like us can’t justify nor understand how anyone can harm an innocent animal.
The vet treats both dogs. Then it is time to examine the puppies. Miraculously, despite their situation, the puppies are all healthy.
It’s incredible! They are of good weight too. Mama has been taking excellent care of her babies– feeding them often despite her own challenges to eat.
The dog family is placed inside a kennel at the medical center. They will get proper care there until the entire family is healthy enough to move into a foster home.

We are so happy everyone got the care that they needed and they’re no longer struggling to survive on the streets.
While mama may have picked an unusual place to bury her pups to keep them safe, it did the trick. A mama always knows best!
