In the middle of the desert this past week, a man spotted a nearly lifeless dog. He was a pile of bones waiting for God to take him home. He was too weak to move. He couldn’t even lift his head.

The man knew he had to rush him to the closest vet or he wouldn’t make it. It was a race against the clock. How he survived this long was a miracle in itself.
The poor pup was covered in fleas and ticks. He trembled constantly. He would open his eyes and then drift back to sleep.

The vet put him on IV antibiotics, pain medication and fluids to hydrate him, then made sure he was comfortable and could sleep. Sleeping and receiving medication was the best thing for the dog. He would also receive supplemental nutrition to make his body stronger.

The medical staff started him on special meds for a tickborne illness. This should help his symptoms tremendously. Soon he was able to eat small portions from a syringe. He had a long way to go but there was hope. The dog also received blood transfusions to combat his anemia. He’s anemic from all the fleas, ticks and starvation.

A few days later, as we write this, the dog is able to eat from a bowl with some assistance. It’s truly amazing. He still has a bad tremor but his rescuers are hoping that will subside with time.

This rescue just occurred and we are going to continue to pray and follow his story. Because he has an appetite and has made some improvements, the vet believes he could survive.
