After Days Of Waiting, Deaf Service Dog Finally Gets To Welcome Soldier Dad Home

Phil, a soldier for the Oregon National Guard, had to leave his family home for 2 days due to drill weekend. For Cotton, his senior deaf service Pit Bull, the 2 days seemed like eternity!

The poor dog had been gloomy and withdrawn ever since his dad went off to training. He would simply stand by the door and wait for his return.

In this video, we see Cotton lurking by the door when he suddenly spots a familiar face from afar. The deaf dog wants to have a better view, so he lifts the blinds on the door and pushes his head further to see if Phil is returning home. The dog can barely contain his excitement when he realizes his dad is back!

As Phil walks in through the door, Cotton leaps in joy and starts skipping around the soldier’s legs. He showers him with hugs and kisses and lets him know that he missed him so much. What a sweet reunion!

Sadly, Cotton got sick due to old age soon after. Phil and his family had to make the tough decision to put him down. The sweet dog passed away in his dad’s arms, knowing that he had lived a full and happy life. Cotton reminds us of another blind and deaf dog who sensed her dad’s return just by his smell! Today’s video will always remind us of Cotton’s unwavering loyalty and unconditional love!
