Dog Chained Up In Hot Sun Was Gasping For Air Before Succumbing To Heat Stroke

The Harris County Precinct One Constable’s Office is pleading with pet owners to bring their animals inside during this extreme heat after they responded to a call of a dog who ended up dying after being left outside in the blistering sun for a long period of time.

When their animal cruelty unit arrived at the Houston home, they found the dog tied to a weighted down metal chain in the backyard, with no shade, water or food.

At the time of discovery, the dog’s internal temperature read 106.5 degrees, while his external body temperature was 122.9 degrees.

A worried neighbor had sent a video of the dog to the Houston SPCA, where he was seen gasping for breath.

The police are currently investigating, which could lead to the prosecution of the dog’s owner.

The Harris County Precinct One Constable’s Office is now encouraging dog owners to bring their pups inside as temperatures rise.

They are asking anyone who sees any signs of animal cruelty to contact their local Animal Cruelty Hotline or police.
