Camera captures the moment dog realizes his family is leaving him at the shelter

A shelter dog who was featured in a heartbreaking video that went viral has found a forever home thanks to a group of dedicated rescuers. The fear and confusion on the face of the Pit Bull named Electra touched hearts around the globe. Electra’s sad eyes, flattened ears and downward expression made it crystal clear she was just realizing she was somewhere far from where she wanted to be.

She was left at Pomona’s Inland Valley Humane Society in California when Lolys Menchaka, a volunteer animal rescuer, spotted her and took the video and photo.

“Electra represents the face of sadness and reality in the shelters,” Lolys wrote on Facebook. “Sometimes I would like to understand owners surrendering their animals and I don’t like to judge them but when you see how the dogs come to the receiving department with their happy faces and they stand all proud I just can’t understand… (I’m speaking in general, not sure if she was found as stray or she was an owner surrendered.)”

Lolys hoped for Electra to have a happy ending, as so few Pit Bulls do in shelters. And it looks like she will be getting one! When Tiffany Tan of JL Animal rescue heard news of Electra she ran down to the pound and got her. And Electra now has a forever family. Tan told news.com.au, “I’ve gone over every day to check on her, I had to check her temperament. She’s an amazing dog, she’s not the same dog we took out of a shelter. She’s so snuggly, she just wants to snuggle you.”

It’s heartwarming to see Electra has found her forever family, unlike so many dogs in shelters these days. If you would like to help other dogs like Electra visit Inland Valley Humane Society or your local shelter.

    It is not good when people do that because the dog will remember what that person did to the poor dog. At least there was a good ending that he got a forever home ❤️️❤️️

    a*s holes rot in hell you take on the responsibility of any animal you should have the decency to take care of it for life. Dropping them like that you should be banned from ever having another animal of any kind.

    This is sad but honestly, I wouldn’t want someone who doesn’t want their dog to be forced to keep him/her. People can be cruel when they feel they’re being burdened. Also, you should never get a dog unless you’re 100% committed to them for life.

    Exactly I agree how can people be so cruel to their pets you know I look at my two Dobermans and I tell them how blessed they are and I tell them Mama love you and when they go to bed I tell them good night sleep tight Mama love you every night

    My boy sleeps with me every night. I recently was forced to move and finding a pet friendly apartment was hard even harder with Doberman as the breed, but I found one that’s all that matter when it came to apartment was my boy could come with me. He recently was sick on Sunday before holiday no second thought straight to the emergency vet, and couldn’t of imagined if it been serious what I would do with out him he’s so much more then a dog he’s my best friend my son. I could never imagine giving him up for any reason. I need him as much as he needs me

    i wont watch this- i got the gist from the caption- people make me sick anymore- how can u just dump off or give away ur most faithful friend ever in the world? i would live in a cardboard box with my fur baby before i ever gave her away!

    its makes everybody sad.. maybe theres areason why! . but its more good to him i guess, than leave them without a home or abandoned there innocent lifes.. or do some worst thing… thats much more heart breaker… and we dont want it to happen..
