A shelter dog who was featured in a heartbreaking video that went viral has found a forever home thanks to a group of dedicated rescuers. The fear and confusion on the face of the Pit Bull named Electra touched hearts around the globe. Electra’s sad eyes, flattened ears and downward expression made it crystal clear she was just realizing she was somewhere far from where she wanted to be.
She was left at Pomona’s Inland Valley Humane Society in California when Lolys Menchaka, a volunteer animal rescuer, spotted her and took the video and photo.
“Electra represents the face of sadness and reality in the shelters,” Lolys wrote on Facebook. “Sometimes I would like to understand owners surrendering their animals and I don’t like to judge them but when you see how the dogs come to the receiving department with their happy faces and they stand all proud I just can’t understand… (I’m speaking in general, not sure if she was found as stray or she was an owner surrendered.)”
Here is the video of Electra that went viral. Please wait a few seconds for it to load.

Lolys hoped for Electra to have a happy ending, as so few Pit Bulls do in shelters. And it looks like she will be getting one! When Tiffany Tan of JL Animal rescue heard news of Electra she ran down to the pound and got her. And Electra now has a forever family. Tan told news.com.au, “I’ve gone over every day to check on her, I had to check her temperament. She’s an amazing dog, she’s not the same dog we took out of a shelter. She’s so snuggly, she just wants to snuggle you.”

Just look at her smiles!

It’s heartwarming to see Electra has found her forever family, unlike so many dogs in shelters these days. If you would like to help other dogs like Electra visit Inland Valley Humane Society or your local shelter.

Most heart wrenching expression on an abandoned pet I have ever seen if people can’t take responsibility why commit and bring a pet if one is not willing to look after it till it lives. Shame.

Dit is so hartseer en dit breek my hart. Hoe kan mense so iets aan n dier doen ? Sulke mense moet in die eerste plek nie diere aanhou nie.

Wow, I am so glad that she found a wonderful home. I know that if I had to to leave my Moochie b/c I could not take care of her, my Chaps would take her, no doubt about that. Moochie is their like Sister or their Auntie. :-),:-)

A Dog is a huge responsibility, if you are not 100% committed to keeping him/her do not get him/her. Some just want to make their kids or significant other happy but just don’t think of the responsibility involved, so they get a dog and everyone loves it for the first 2 weeks and then reality sets in. Some one has to feed, water, clean, walk pick up after and pay for the vets bills. So please please please think about this before you bring a dog into your home and then when the newness wears off decide it’s not for you. Dogs get attached and begin to depend and form a bond with a owner/family and then the owner/family decides hey I guess I was not ready for this. The poor dog suffers while you move on. Either love your animals 100% or don’t get one.

My wife and I foster dogs (and the occasional cat) for an animal rescue. Don’t drop them off at shelters, the majority will be put to sleep. Find an animal rescue and drop them off there. Rescues will find an appropriate home for the pet.
