Bull Terrier Found Laying In The Snow Next To Freeway Melts In Rescuers Arms

It was a snowy Friday when Michigan Humane received a call about a dog spotted laying in the snow on the side of the I94 freeway.

As the team drove to the spot of the sighting they saw a white and black bull terrier looking down from an embankment as snow pelted down around them.

The officers carefully climbed up the snowy bank to reach the dog, who they’ve named Rudy. Rudy looked so uncertain at first, like he didn’t know what was going on or if he should trust these people.

Michigan Humane shared a video of Rudy’s rescue:

Thankfully, one of the humane officers managed to coax Rudy over with gentle words and by crouching to his level. It’s at this point that Rudy decided he can trust her and went right over to her.

Once she managed to safely secure him, Rudy’s attitude shifted and he realized the rescuers were there to get him out of the cold.

He doesn’t struggle on the lead and even lets the humane officer lift him to the van, which was a good thing given how slippery and dangerous the embankment by the freeway was!

Once back at the shelter, the first thing Rudy did was cuddle in his rescuer’s lap and warm up.

A week later, Michigan Humane shared that Rudy is “settling in well and enjoying lots of love and attention from our team.”

The handsome boy is all smiles now.

They are keeping him well entertained with playtime.

And they told the Dodo that he’s a “sweetheart” and “enjoys spending time with people and playing around outside in our play yards. He’s also met other dogs while in our care and liked getting to know them. He loves yummy snacks, like stuffed KONGs and hot dog pieces, and going for walks.”

Rudy is currently in a foster home for now until Michigan Humane learns more about his personality and gets him ready for adoption.

Pupdate: June 2023

Rudy did get ready for his adoption. He needed an eye surgery and some behavioral therapy but he passed them with flying colors. He recovered quickly from his surgery and he now has a forever home!
