Some people may say that it's too dangerous and risky to bring bring a baby into a home with a big dog…
…let alone letting the dog come anywhere near the baby, but dogs do make for loving, protective family members.
That's exactly the case here as Scout the Boxer gets introduced to and meets his newborn baby sister for the very first time! It's the sweetest thing ever!
Check out their precious first encounter and Scout's priceless reaction on the next page:

It’s a boxer, a dog like no other. This baby has a body guard and play mate for the rest of it’s life.

Most boxers will probably be loving but don’t mean they all will or any breed never take your eyes off…

Elz Howe, sounds like he may be jealous of her friends and guarding her. I’m not sure about the growling thing..hmm. They ARE very protective so I think he will love the baby, but be WARY of those friends around the baby when he’s there. I would make sure your 4 yr old is sitting with you, perhaps partly holding the new one, when you introduce him. That way he knows she is okay to be with the baby too. Make sure you keep petting him a lot so he doesn’t feel that the new one is there to take his place.

Jewel Essex-Roller I never looked at it like that. That makes a lot of sense. As he is naturally very guarding. Will bring this up with the behaviourist, thanks

How about you guys read more comments before actually commenting. That’d be great, and you’ll actually see that I wasn’t being serious!! I have 2 boxers myself. I just love seeing how people get all bent out of shape when reading comments!!

I am a cat breeder, I currently have a Boxer, our previous Boxer lived to age 13. My Boxers have been brilliant with my cats, even tiny kittens. Before our first Boxer we had English Springer Spaniels, lovely dogs, but I wouldn’t trust them with the cats. Boxers are a wonderful breed – not all cat lovers distrust dogs.

We are expecting in less then 4 weeks with our baby girl…our Boxer is 10 months old and it was suggested to us by her trainer that we bring home blankets to introduce scent first and hold off on physical introduction until baby has been home for 2 weeks so our pup learns to respect the baby first. Its also suggested that you shouldn’t leave them alone for the first two years to avoid any problems with baby pulling or pinching as a dog can only be so patient sometimes. I’m sure the worst we will deal with is a clean baby from too many kisses! Lol

I grew up with them, and have since had 5 of my own, they have all been fantastic with my children and grandchildren alike. When my grandson was tiny, my boxer Mia used lay on the floor in front of the sofa and used her as a step to get up onto the sofa – they are inseparable!!
