Watching an abused, former puppy mill dog snuggle with a human for the first time is more than my heart can handle!
Anne Wuhrer rescued precious little Boston Terrier puppy, Noisette, an abusive puppy mill in Northern Virginia.
Noisette was thought to be somewhere between 1 and 3 years old at the time of the rescue, and was in rough shape when she was rescued.
She was dehydrated, with bad eyes and bad teeth, and was suffering from malnutrition on top of being anemic and covered in fleas, dirt and feces. Emotionally, she wasn't doing so well, either.
It took time for Noisette to “gradually adjust” to life outside of a filthy cage and to trust people again, but slowly they've made progress.
This video (featured Anne’s husband) is proof of that. Keep in mind he had to lay still on the floor for 20 minutes before this happened!
Check out the heartwarming video capturing Noisette the Boston Terrier puppy's first ever snuggle after being rescued (and possibly ever…) on the next page:

Years back I found a stray cat in the storage area of an apt building I managed. He was very curious and followed me back to my apt. He wasn’t unfriendly, but he would only let me pet him if I was laying down on a couch and he was on the floor. When I slept he lay near my head but would run away as soon as I would wake up. After 6 months of this he decided to adopt me and when I laid down on the couch to give him love he jumped up and lay down on my chest and purred. From that moment on he was a different cat. He was safe and happy and was never again leary of another human. He loved everyone he met. He brightened my life for 8 years and I miss him every day now that he’s gone over the rainbow bridge. I would get 10 more just like him if I could, but he was one of a kind.

Puppy mills need to be done away with! Sad what they do to innocent babies!

My Bailey was rescued from a Puppy mill, and was in horrible condition when I first saw her. She lay in the back of the cage, terrified, and growling at anyone that went near her. I sat on the floor beside her for about half hour just talking to her. The shelter worker finally took her out and let her go. She walked over and sniffed me but was extremely skiddish, so I just remained sitting on the floor. About 10 minutes passed, and another couple came in to view her for adoption, Bailey immediately came over, climbed up on my lap and put her front paws on either side of my neck and placed her head on my shoulder. My heart was broken, how someone could abuse such a beautiful animal. The shelter worker said, She’s clearly made her choice. 11 years later and Bailey still gives me her hug when she wants affection…

If you walked into the humane society and gave them money and received a pet you didn’t save anything. You bought a pet.

All of mine are rescues. Not from the humane society but rescued from the road. I bought my boxer but the other 4 showed up and are happy where they are
