BREAKING NEWS: Leading Brand Issues Pet Food Recall

BREAKING NEWS: Blue Buffalo of Connecticut has announced a voluntary recall of one lot of its Life Protection Formula Fish and Sweet Potato Recipe, which may be contaminated by high moisture levels, resulting in mold.

While no cases have been reported, the ingestion of mold (also known as Mycotoxicosis) can affect the digestive and nervous systems, and, in its worst cases, result in death. Please see the full list of symptoms below, after viewing the affected product.

WHY WAS IT RECALLED?

This recall was initiated as a precautionary measure after the discovery of excessive moisture, which could result in mold. According to a company representative, the recall is limited to a single batch that was manufactured during one 2-hour period.

The ingestion of moldy food could result in mycotoxicosis in your dog.

WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS?

Symptoms of Mycotoxicosis:

  • Muscle tremors
  • Seizures
  • Panting
  • Hyperactivity
  • Vomiting
  • Uncoordinated movements
  • Weakness
  • Increased heart rate
  • Increased body temperature
  • Dehydration
  • Lack of appetite

WHAT CAN YOU DO?

If you dog is suffering from any of these symptoms, please contact your veterinarian immediately.

    I actually found the best recipes on here after a year…lol. Tge kast two are my favorite because they are the easiest. The Woof Loaf & the Puppy Meat loaf. I have altered the recipes slightly. I use spinich instead of kale & I have also at times used chopped bell peppers/zucchini/sweet potato/shredded cauliflower as alternaternative veges. I mix meats ground turkey/chix & sometimes beef. I also add a few tsps psyllium husks. Ivalso add a few tbs dried cranberries. The combo of protein (meats) veges & oatmeal (fiber) is a good mix. Should be about 60% meat/40%veges added fiber(potatoes/rice/oatmeal). A few times a week eggs and cottage cheese/greek yogurt ss supplements are good to add.
