This 18-month-old pug was found close to starvation. In a matter of weeks, he doesn’t look the same!

A volunteer from a rescue in Australia shared their beautiful rescue story that involves a lovely pug named Basil. This pug was subject to some inhumane treatment from his former family in Melbourne, with a long list of heath problems. The Australian rescue group did not have long to save Basil’s life.

Basil was found nearly covered in mange, had stomach worms, and eye issues!

His former family was abusive, but was saved almost completely bald and starving.

When he was turned in, the rescuers knew getting Basil back to health would take a long time…

Visits from the vet and medicated baths allowed Basil to heal fast enough to be introduced to other rescued pugs at the shelter.

In a matter of weeks, Basil was looking like a completely new pug!

  1. How could any human being do this…I am always amazed by the cruilty and lack of respect for other animals which some folk have! I have two pugs, having had bigger dogs all my adult like I have never been so emotionally attached to an animal as I am to Biggie and Rupert! I am a midwife and I am absolutely aware of the link between animal cruelty and child abuse…these horrible people do not deserve a place in our society!
