Traumatized Rescue Dog Has The Best Life Now

Sadly, not all people value animals the way we do. They don’t understand that dogs have real emotions. They feel pain just like we do. They feel joy.

They are sometimes left with memories that go deep down and last longer than they should. Then as rescuers, we are left to pick up the pieces.

A woman rescued a dog from PAWS of Jackson Hole and named him Bandit. She immediately fell in love with him and he fell in love with her!

Like many rescue dogs, he had a past that she wasn’t aware of. Living in a rural area, it is common to hear gunshots.

When Bandit heard gunfire for the first time in front of his new human, she knew his reaction was so intense that it was linked to a traumatic event. She had to get to the bottom of it.

It turned out that Bandit was part of an unwanted litter born on a ranch. The rancher decided it was best to just shoot the 6-week-old puppies rather than give them to a local shelter.

When a man overheard what was happening, he came over and begged the rancher to give him the remaining three puppies that were still alive. He then brought them to the shelter where all three of the pups found forever homes.

Sadly, Bandit’s other siblings weren’t so lucky.

Now, tragically, gunshots are a constant reminder of what Bandit witnessed and what he himself would have faced if it weren’t for that kind man.

Bandit now has a happy life filled with fun days and lots of love. While the beginning of his story is tragic, the next chapters are filled with everything he could ever hope for (and more!)
