A newly married couple returned from their honeymoon only to find their lively Doberman, Athena, sprawled out lifelessly on the floor. Athena was conscious, but she couldn’t move her limbs at all.
The worried couple rushed her to the vet and made the most crushing discovery – their dear pup was suffering from a terminal nerve disease called Wobbler’s Syndrome.

Wobbler’s Syndrome mostly affects large dogs by compressing their nerve roots and disrupting brain signals, and it eventually leads to paralysis.
For Athena’s prognosis, the vet gave a simple answer – if she didn’t regain her limb function within 3 weeks, she would never walk again.

Athena’s parents did everything in their power to help Athena recover. They massaged her limbs all the time, used braces, took her for physical therapy and motivated her to fight back.
But 3 weeks passed and Athena’s condition remained the same. The hopeless girl was tired of wearing doggie diapers and living a bleak life filled with dread, but her determined parents kept working on her therapy with unshakable faith.

Four months after her initial diagnosis, Athena was still paralyzed completely. But all it took was a miracle to make everything alright again!
It was a moment of pure ecstasy when Athena walked (and ran) after months of struggle – one that left us crying and smiling at the same time!

A friend of mine has a beautiful Dalmatian. Friendly, energetic and lovable, she was a perfect family pet… but she wasn’t the smartest pooch on the planet. Sadly, Dobermans are known more for their ferocity than their smarts, but these are considered among the most intelligent dogs in the world, as well as one of the most effective guard dogs around. They’re outstanding students known to be affectionate and obedient.
9. Bloodhound

Don’t let the wrinkles and dopey expression fool you! Bloodhounds have the keenest of noses, and are often used for trailing (so much so that their evidence can be used in court against you!). These are loving but strong-willed dogs, and are often used on search and rescue missions.
10. Australian Cattle Dog

You need a smart, determined and energetic dog to control unruly cows. And that’s just what the Australian Cattle Dog, or ACD, does. They’re intelligent enough to herd these much larger creatures, and while they need their independence and wide open spaces, they’re eager workers who know how to get the job done.
