An Air Canada pilot is being credited with saving a dog’s life by diverting a flight from Tel Aviv to Toronto after a heating system malfunction in the plane’s cargo area.
The seven-year-old French bulldog named Simba was taking its first flight when the pilot noticed the problem just as the plane was about to head over the Atlantic Ocean, where temperatures plummet.
With the dog’s well-being in peril the pilot decided to land the plane in Frankfurt, Germany.

Any Frenchie owner knows that Frenchies should never fly in the cargo bay (they’re brachycephalic) most airlines have banned them for this very reason. Good job on the pilots behalf but the owner should have known better!

So glad he saved his life. My Frenchie came from Missouri to Pennsylvania two years ago in January. He did fine but I think there are only certain months out of the year they can fly.

Don’t think this story is actually true. Reason: almost all airlines prohibit frenchies from flying in cargo. I know because I was trying to fly with my frenchie and I checked with five different airlines and they would not allow it.

That pilot is a hero!!!
This is why I will NEVER EVER put a pet below in the cargo hold. They are NOT luggage and no extra cost in fuel etc. can justify negligently killing an animal because convenience. The pilot did the right thing. This is also why I don’t care if someone has an animal in the cabin either as a bought seat or a therapy animal. Besides, it’s been proven over and over that dogs have 40% less bacteria and germs that are harmful to humans than children do. Let’s have the animals in the cabins and put children in the cargo hold!
