She Adopted Not One, But Two Blind Dogs. Now They All Go On Adventures Together

A woman from Pacific Northwest had always wanted to adopt a dog of her own. After visiting several dogs, the woman fell for Abi, a black-and-white coated dog with no eyes. She knew it was going to be a challenge as a first-time parent, but she adopted Abi nevertheless.

Over the next few months, Abi impressed her mom with her excellent life skills. She would never let her disability stop her from doing anything. She navigated using her nose and ears, and even became aware of the intricacies of Mom’s daily life.

One day, Abi’s Mom got a call about Duke, a blind and lonely Labrador Retriever. Mom was not sure if she could do justice to 2 blind dogs, but she wanted Abi to have a companion. Eventually, she drove from Michigan to the West Coast to bring Duke home.

Unlike Abi, Duke had a very skittish personality. But with Abi’s company, he learned to trust his instincts and explore the world’s wonders with an open heart. Now, Duke and Abi have formed an inseparable bond through their many hiking adventures around the world with Mom!

Mom feels that blind dogs are just as capable as normal dogs if they are given enough time to train their impeccable instincts. She feels fortunate to have Abi and Duke as her family, and hopes to inspire potential adopters to give special needs dogs a fair chance. What a heartwarming story!
