Deep in the woods near a quiet road in Brunswick County, Virginia, a frightened dog named Hope was found in heartbreaking condition. Pregnant, starving, and chained tightly to a tree, she had no way to escape and nowhere to turn for help.
Thankfully, one passerby noticed the helpless pup and immediately contacted local animal control officers. They rushed to the scene, rescued Hope, and brought her to a nearby shelter where she could finally rest in safety.
Not long after arriving, Hope gave birth to eight healthy puppies.
The exhausted mama dog and her newborns still needed a peaceful place to recover, and that’s when a foster volunteer named Lori stepped in. Through Augusta Dog Adoptions, Lori welcomed Hope and her puppies into her home, giving them the warmth and care they desperately needed.
“Hope is settling in beautifully and truly living up to her name,” Lori shared. “She’s incredibly gentle, loving, and devoted to her puppies. Like any good mother, she’s protective of her babies, and they’re all growing fast and doing wonderfully.”
Although Lori has spent 15 years fostering rescue animals, she says Hope has left a special impression on her.
“Fostering isn’t always easy, but Hope has been amazing,” Lori explained. “From the moment she arrived, you could tell how relieved she was to finally feel safe. She’s been so affectionate and grateful for a warm place, good food, and the chance to care for her puppies peacefully. I absolutely adore this dog.”
After everything she endured, Hope is finally getting the love and kindness she always deserved — and her puppies will grow up knowing safety instead of fear.
